  • Equipment Decision-Making: Aid in selecting the types and specifications of new machinery required for the shop.

  • Production Strategy: Plan and enhance production efficiency, job routing, and expediting to meet project timelines.
  • Safety Management: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and practices within the shop environment.
  • Staff Scheduling: Manage crew schedules and attendance to guarantee adequate coverage and compliance with timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Review work orders to confirm compliance with quality and quantity standards.
  • Issue Resolution: Evaluate work-related challenges and propose solutions, including potential disciplinary measures.

Qualifications:

  • CAM Software Proficiency: Experience with CAM software.
  • Quality Control Knowledge: Understanding of quality management systems to maintain standards.
  • Leadership Experience: 3-5 years of experience supervising shop personnel, demonstrating effective leadership skills.
  • Machining Expertise: Familiarity with both manual and CNC machining processes.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to address technical and operational challenges.
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to motivate, mentor, and lead staff.
  • Clear Communication: Ability to articulate ideas clearly and logically.
  • Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license for vehicle operation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding and adherence to company and federal regulations.
  • Technical Reading: Ability to interpret drawings and diagrams, and to layout, set up, and create jigs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Document production data, tool changes, and various issues during shifts, recommending adjustments for future projects.
  • Efficiently machine and fabricate parts, including welding, grinding, drilling, and tapping.
  • Conduct pre-production planning.
  • Start and stop machines effectively, including loading materials onto machines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking oil levels, pressure, and coolant.
  • Provide personal hand tools as necessary for job functions.
  • Remove, replace, and set tooling, including drills and other components.
  • Service spindle units and repair various machine parts.
  • Prepare parts for fabrication through layout and cutting.
  • Set up jigs and weld components as required.
  • Operate machinery and utilize hand and power tools to secure parts.
