Job Title: Superintendent - Interior Construction

At Layton Construction Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent to lead our interior construction projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensure that Constructing with Integrity is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
  • Interact with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule; develop and utilize look ahead schedules to assess progress and spot upcoming issues.
  • Coordinate the pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
  • Direct procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Ensure all parties involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction or related field or equivalent experience of at least 10 years commercial construction demonstrating knowledge of construction processes.
  • Understand and apply building codes and other design requirements correctly and read blueprints accurately.
  • Has finish carpentry skills relevant to commercial interior work; install finishes to specifications as needed.
  • Administrative skills: monitor the progress and coordination of work activities; keep other members of the organization informed of progress and problems.
  • Management skills: establish techniques to effectively and proactively monitor and supervise the work of subordinates, follow up on the results of delegated assignments, and be a team player that works well with other people.
  • Problem-solving ability: find and use relationships between data from different sources to formulate alternative solutions.
  • Plans effectively: establish courses of action for self and for others; allocate resources and assign personnel; use time efficiently; be personally well-organized.
  • Show initiative: actively try to influence events to achieve goals, work well with minimal supervision, strive to achieve goals beyond minimal levels of performance.
