Lifeguard II

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard II to join our team at the City of Plantation - FL. As a Lifeguard II, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our aquatic facility patrons and providing exceptional customer service.

• Observe swimmers and perform rescues, CPR, AED, and First Aid when necessary.
• Communicate and enforce all rules, regulations, and ordinances governing pool and pool activities to prevent accidents and maintain order.
• Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Perform various maintenance duties as needed and/or directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Instruct swimming classes for various age groups and water safety classes as required.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times and provide high-level customer service.
• Attend scheduled in-service trainings and complete a monthly swim set as directed by the Aquatic Manager.
• Assist in preparation and clean-up of the aquatic facility in the event of major storms.

• Current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Water Safety Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Ability to pass the Plantation Aquatic Complex Lifeguard Skills Test.
• Complete and pass a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida.
• Available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week.

This is a designated 'Recovery' classification in the City's Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.

All new employees serve a one (1) year probationary period from date of hire.

Pay checks are issued bi-weekly every other Friday; direct deposit of paycheck required to any banking institution is mandatory. Part-time and Will Call employees are generally not eligible for City of Plantation benefits unless otherwise required by law.
