Position Overview: COBOL Developer

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a programming certificate, ideally a 2-year degree from a community college; a 4-year Computer Science degree is preferred.
  • Alternatively, candidates may have no formal degree but should possess a minimum of 8-10 years of practical experience in a comparable position.
  • A Master's degree with at least 4 years of pertinent experience is also acceptable.

Technical Proficiencies Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cat mainframe environment, particularly with GIS Cluster C/A - COBOL development.
  • At least 3 years of experience in SQL / DB2 programming on mainframe systems.
  • 3+ years of development experience with IMS or CICS.
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing debugging tools such as Xpeditor and Abend-Aid.
  • 2+ years of experience collaborating with end-users to gather IT requirements and conduct testing.
  • Familiarity with FSA/SOX Controls is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research on existing mainframe applications and documenting findings through flowcharts.
  • Improving and optimizing current programs.
  • Creating custom, one-time-use programs for data alterations.
  • Documenting changes to ensure compliance with FSA/SOX regulations.
