Supportive Living Assistant

The Supportive Living Assistant, under the guidance of the Residence Director, plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting with daily living activities. This position focuses on fostering independence and individuality while providing compassionate care. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with personal hygiene tasks such as dressing, bathing, and grooming
  • Helping residents transfer safely to and from beds, wheelchairs, or walkers
  • Supporting residents in the self-administration of medications
  • Facilitating participation in social events and activities
  • Monitoring and reporting any changes in residents' physical condition or behavior to the supervisor
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required, with opportunities for part-time, full-time, and varying shifts including nights and weekends


PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Previous experience in a caregiving role is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Candidates should possess qualities such as reliability, sound judgment, and empathy. Effective communication skills with team members, residents, and their families are essential, along with the ability to adapt to changing situations. The ability to accept guidance and follow instructions independently is crucial, as is the capacity to work harmoniously with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role necessitates the ability to navigate the entire facility independently and assist residents in various locations. Quick response in emergencies is essential. Proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to universal precautions are required. Candidates must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics.
