POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure and services within cloud environments, specifically Microsoft Azure, for CECO Environmental Corp. This role involves critical production support, requiring availability for off-hours emergency assistance to ensure business continuity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the architecture, deployment, configuration, monitoring, and upkeep of high-availability enterprise solutions adhering to industry standards utilizing MS Azure and M365.
  • Conducts proactive system administration, including monitoring, performance tuning, uptime management, alert notifications, and automation tasks.
  • Implements Infrastructure as Code using Azure CLI, PowerShell, and ARM templates.
  • Manages Azure DevOps repositories and enforces branch policies.
  • Develops and configures new development tools to enhance automation and streamline code deployment, focusing on Azure operations and application deployment/configuration.
  • Takes ownership of the diagnosis and resolution of issues, determining and providing workaround solutions or escalating as necessary.
  • Configures, administers, and manages M365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) following Microsoft best practices.
  • Diagnoses infrastructure/software application issues as needed to ensure the stability of enterprise systems.
  • Defines and implements configurations for Azure IAAS and PAAS services to ensure high availability, data redundancy, data loss prevention, site recovery, and resilience in accordance with Microsoft best practices.
  • Establishes and implements cloud security architecture to guarantee data security at rest and in transit, application security, key management, identity management, authentication, and authorization using OIDC and OAuth2 infrastructure security, leveraging Azure VNets, NSGs, UDR, etc.
  • Administers Windows Active Directory, Windows servers, Linux servers, group policies, etc.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and controls for management information systems within cloud environments to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Installs new equipment, specifies and manages software upgrades and patches for email services, manages Active Directory, DNS, FTP, and web servers, and related facilities as required.
  • Supports the management of third-party and contracted resources, under the guidance of the Director of Infrastructure & Operations, ensuring services are delivered on budget and ahead of schedule.
  • Proactively identifies and communicates technical risks.
  • Produces and updates documentation on system processes to meet compliance and auditing regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Adheres to all IT and Information Security policies and procedures; assists in responding to audit requests as needed.
  • Performs additional duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution; or at least ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a cloud computing environment.
  • A minimum of five years of experience managing an enterprise-level tenant in Microsoft Azure, with a preference for multitenant management experience.
  • Extensive experience in Windows Server administration and management is required; Linux administration experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Azure CLI, PowerShell, and ARM templates.
  • At least five years of relevant enterprise-level cloud management experience.
  • Experience in designing and analyzing Cloud Security models.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps configuration and management.
  • Knowledge of essential Cloud concepts including Azure PAAS Services, Security and Provisioning within Azure, API Management Policies, Event Hubs, Azure SQL, Identity Management, Azure AD, Azure B2C Configuration, Cloud Security, Azure Key Vault, HSTS SSL TLS Ingress Control, Certificate Management, and Azure Security Center Threat Detection.

COMPETENCIES:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Understanding of PowerShell for cloud management and administration.
  • Knowledge of Azure Networking, Azure Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute Site-to-Site VPN configuration, NSG configuration, and App Services Environments.
  • Senior-level knowledge of Active Directory and Federation between on-premises data centers and cloud environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft computing environments within an enterprise-level landscape (both server and workstation).
  • Understanding of networking concepts related to Cloud tenant connectivity.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; ERP systems, ADP, Epicor, and/or D365 is beneficial. Experience with EPM tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronics and computer hardware/software.
  • Customer service principles and processes.
  • Proficient in the English language, including grammar and composition.
