Role Purpose:

Deliver personalized, high-quality nursing care to patients across all age groups. Utilize a collaborative approach to delegate and coordinate patient care during admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Independently provide nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, nursing standards, ethical principles, and professional judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
  • Utilize safe patient handling techniques.
  • Continuously assess assigned patients and provide ongoing treatment.
  • Identify and respond to the educational and emotional needs of patients and their families.
  • Guide and supervise healthcare personnel (e.g., Patient Care Technicians) in patient care.
  • Maintain proficiency in equipment setup, maintenance, and operation (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring devices, drainage systems). Employ safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms to enhance patient safety.
  • Initiate emergency support measures (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, safeguarding patients from harm).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse as defined by the State of Iowa.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required for the Night Shift.
  • Completion of Mandatory Reporter training.
  • Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers within six weeks of hire.
