Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Shipbuilding Planner to join our team at Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. As a key member of our planning and scheduling department, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day planning support to implementation detail planning for the OPC work-related Craft.
Key Responsibilities- Develop LOE support work packages/work orders for support groups to support the master schedule.
- Develop work packages/work orders for support groups to support the master schedule based on drawings and CAM inputs.
- Develop work packages/work orders detail steps.
- Develop work packages/work orders logic, justifications (lag and high duration).
- Generate, monitor, and maintain work package changes driven by ECNs or ECPs.
- Develop basis of estimates for work packages based on standards and actual performance.
- Design and create planning staffing models that provide the best optimization of labor, cost, and efficiency.
- BCR coordination, completion, and workflow.
- Perform work in accordance with ESG's ISO standards, Planning and Scheduling Excellence, and EVMS system description.
- Implement BCRs with schedulers in P.
- Assist CAMs with schedule, labor, and Subcontractor Management planning.
- Assist/Create, Run Reports Weekly/Monthly.
- Maintain High Standards in planning quality.
- Support CAMs in VAR Analysis.
- Coordinate planning for multiple projects within the craft.
- Identify cross craft dependencies.
- Communicate with CAMs to determine updates of assigned work.
- Expedite operations that delay production schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of production operations through information management and sharing.
- Provide information needed for Earned Value Management reporting.
- BA/BS Degree in Business Administration, Management, Construction, or Engineering.
- Years of experience as Planner or related field.
- Trade experience and an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in industrial engineering, shipbuilding, and production processes.
- Control Account Manager certification.
- Desired experience in Primavera P6 or other Scheduling Software in a resource-loaded EVMS Schedule.
- Project Management support.
- Cost Accounting background.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment and government contract work.
- Experience working in drawing and modelling software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Suite experience including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of various web-based design and collaboration tools.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
- Forge and sustain outstanding client-relationships while managing multiple work streams.
- Work both independently and as part of the project team while exercising diplomacy and tact.
- Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports.
- Must be able to effectively communicate clearly with managers, office workers, and craft workers verbally and in writing.
- Show initiative and innovation, adapt to ambiguous and fast-paced situations, and track, manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
