The Yorktown Central School District seeks a highly skilled and experienced School Counselor to join our team of dedicated professionals. This position will play a vital role in providing comprehensive school counseling services to students in grades 9-12.
Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Principal(s), the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a school counseling plan that addresses the diverse needs of our students. This will include:
- Providing individual and group counseling sessions to support student academic, personal, and social growth
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and address student needs
- Developing and implementing prevention programs to promote positive behaviors and attitudes
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. They will also have:
- A strong background in school counseling, with experience working with students in grades 9-12
- Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and procedures governing education in New York State
- Ability to use data to inform instruction and program development
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a valid NYS Certification as a School Counselor and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. A Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field is also required.
