Job Summary

The EEG Technologist Registered will be responsible for maintaining Long Term Monitoring EEG recordings, monitoring and reviewing LTM data, and recording and setting up electroencephalographic tests on patients with various illnesses, providing accurate data for interpretation by Electroencephalographers.

Responsibilities
  • Explain test procedures to pediatric patients and guardians, and instruct patients in proper positioning, both before and during the recording.
  • Apply electrodes to predetermined measured placements as per the International 10-20 System and check the performance of the electrodes.
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
  • Take standard recordings from patients in any condition.
  • Instruct patients on how to relax and cooperate for any type of electro-neuro-diagnostic test, reducing artifact as much as possible.
  • Perform special electroencephalographic tests to localize infarct/injury to the nervous system.
  • Monitor and record all unusual and abnormal physiological occurrences.
  • Monitor other vital signs such as eye movement, respiration, muscle, and heart rate.
  • Perform brain activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep when not contraindicated.
  • Perform portable recordings in any area as determined by the appropriate ordering physician.
  • Obtain and record any relevant information from the patient, MiChart, or any part of the medical record.
  • Determine the cause of equipment failure, if any, and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Report machine malfunctions to the IT team or supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Replenish supplies and maintain proper universal precautions.
  • Attend weekly in-service training lectures and workshops.
Requirements
  • Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered (Certified)
  • High school graduation with basic science coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Reasonable experience as an EEG Technician is necessary.
  • Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist, and/or Polysomnography registration or equivalent certification
  • Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body is necessary.
Work Schedule

We have a dayshift and night shift position available, both shifts include weekends. Our Epilepsy Lab provides both inpatient and outpatient services and is a 24-hour/7-day operation; mandatory overtime may be possible.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
