Job Description

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Unit Manager to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct nursing assistants in providing direct care to residents.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for residents.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Monitor residents' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the Director of Nursing Services or Unit Manager.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident care and develop plans to meet their needs.
  • Provide education and training to nursing assistants on proper care techniques and procedures.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the infection control program for monitoring communicable and/or infectious diseases among the residents and personnel.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Iowa.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
