About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Structural Assembly Specialist to join our team at LaborOne Staffing. As a Shipyard Fabrication Technician, you will play a crucial role in assembling and fitting structural materials into various assemblies.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for reading blueprints, section and plan drawings, and weld symbols to derive measurements, dimensions, and quantity of material needed to fabricate a structure. This includes unloading, sorting, and stacking heavy steel pieces, then hoisting each one into the proper place for fastening.

Key Responsibilities
  • Derive measurements, dimensions, and quantity of material needed from blueprints and drawings
  • Unload, sort, and stack heavy steel pieces
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates
  • Lay out and fit pipe, beams, decks, and jackets; frame skids, bends, and elevations for jackets; cut plate, pipe, and beams using a cutting torch
  • Use industry tools and equipment, and install, use, and remove stop plates, dogs, and pad eyes
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities, or determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity
Requirements
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of skills and abilities required for the position
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools as well as measurement tools
  • Able to meet all physical requirements and have all required tools
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
