Role Responsibilities
The advanced practice provider (APP) plays a crucial role in the pre-admission assessment of surgical patients.
- Responsible for coordinating pre-operative care, including comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations (H&P's), along with all necessary testing prior to surgical procedures.
- Engages with collaborating healthcare providers and specialists as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Manages patient care alongside administrative duties, including annual performance evaluations and adherence to standard operating procedures to foster a LEAN organization; aimed at standardizing care, minimizing waste, enhancing patient and provider satisfaction, and decreasing preventable readmissions.
- Conducts thorough pre-operative physical examinations in compliance with established licensure and certification.
- Judiciously orders and interprets relevant laboratory tests, imaging studies, EKGs, and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Participates in system-wide councils to standardize care across the Pre-Admission Centers.
- Champions initiatives to enhance surgical outcomes, reduce preventable readmissions, elevate patient and provider satisfaction, improve overall patient results, foster relationships with community and hospital providers, and increase organizational revenue.

Qualifications
Advanced Practitioner Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Master's program.
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Connecticut.
- Board Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), or certification as a Physician Assistant.
- A minimum of 1 year of direct clinical practice as an advanced practitioner is required.
