As a vital member of the Geisinger Health System, the Activity Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals through tailored therapeutic activities. Compensation:
$23-39/HR based on experience.
The Activity Therapist is responsible for the design, execution, and management of activity therapy programs that align with each patient's treatment objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive activity assessments through patient observation and interviews with patients and their families to gather insights into their needs, abilities, interests, and constraints for the formulation of effective treatment plans.
2. Strategically plan, organize, and lead activities within the treatment framework to promote patient progress towards their therapeutic goals.
3. Develop and implement a diverse activities program, which may include therapeutic leisure skills, leisure education, and awareness initiatives.
4. Facilitate engaging activity sessions aimed at enhancing both mental and physical health outcomes for patients.
5. Instruct patients in various activities and techniques, including sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation methods tailored to their specific requirements.
6. Create individualized treatment plans and execute activity interventions that cater to the unique needs and interests of each patient, aiding them in achieving their therapeutic objectives.
7. Engage patients in therapeutic pursuits such as exercise, games, and community outings to foster social skills and independence.
8. Adapt activities to accommodate the needs of specific groups while maintaining a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor at all times. Address and resolve any patient concerns promptly, prioritizing their safety.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certifications: Must possess a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) designation or be in the process of obtaining national certification; alternatively, certification in a specialized area (Art, Dance, Music, etc.) or clinical licensure (LCPC, LPC, etc.) with relevant expressive therapy certification is required.
CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification are mandatory (training provided upon hire).
First aid certification may be required based on state or facility guidelines.
Compensation for positions at Geisinger Health System varies based on numerous factors, including specific location, role, skill set, and experience level.
