Job Objectives:
Designs, executes, and assesses educational experiences tailored to student needs through a differentiated curriculum. Aids students in behavior management and decision-making. Promotes parental engagement. Adheres to state and federal regulations regarding the education of students with disabilities.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The following duties exemplify performance expectations; however, this list is not ranked by importance nor intended to be exhaustive. Provides an educational program for students as outlined in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Collaborates with general education teachers, teaching assistants, and other service providers to adapt the curriculum as needed and to implement research-based and evidence-based interventions. Employs suitable assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring techniques to evaluate academic and social performance and to guide instruction and progress. Maintains regular communication with parents and professional staff concerning the educational, social, behavioral, personal, and adaptive needs of students. Integrates instructional, assistive, and other technologies while adhering to the acceptable use policy. Pursues professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills. Complies with federal and state model policies and procedures for the education of students with disabilities, completing all necessary reports and record-keeping within established timelines, maintaining confidentiality, and reporting to child protective services as required. Utilizes effective classroom management strategies to foster a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment; responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of students. Adheres to prescribed medical plans and/or assists students with personal hygiene care as trained by licensed healthcare professionals.

Conduct:
Each staff member must remain free from alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances and abuse of any prescribed controlled substances in the workplace throughout their employment.

Terms of Employment:
Each staff member serves as a role model for students in demonstrating citizenship and responsible behavior. Each staff member has a legal obligation to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. It is the employee's responsibility to maintain proper certification/licensure and to initiate the renewal process in a timely manner to ensure the updated certificate/license is received before the current one expires.

Licensure:
A current, valid intervention specialist license (or equivalent) issued by the Ohio Department of Education. Salary is commensurate with experience.
