Position Overview:

The Yard Driver role involves engaging in various tasks including inventory management and maintenance, as well as effective communication with shipping and receiving departments.

We seek reliable and diligent individuals who exhibit strong work ethics and are open to cross-training in multiple areas.

Additionally, we require candidates who can collaborate effectively with others and demonstrate self-motivation.

Key Responsibilities:
CDL Required

  • Assist management as required
  • Position trailers in and out of loading docks
  • Manage yard inventory
  • Conduct temperature checks and adjustments on trailers
  • Perform yard inspections and maintain cleanliness
  • Support the development of a skilled workforce, including performance management and training of yard personnel
  • Collaborate with the transport team to oversee yard transport needs
  • Ensure adherence to all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability (SHECS) policies and procedures
  • Facilitate compliance with all company policies and initiatives
  • Ensure all drop trailers are clean and fueled
  • Maintain yard security according to company standards
  • Monitor the safety and speed of all drivers entering and exiting the yard
  • Communicate daily with supervisors and managers regarding operational activities
  • Coordinate with carriers to manage inventories and pre-loads
  • Ensure all containers are secured at the end of shifts, following company guidelines for security

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:
  • 1 to 3 years preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Candidates must successfully complete a mechanical aptitude assessment
