The Legal and Bankruptcy Specialist is a critical role at Five Star Bank, responsible for ensuring compliance with bankruptcy regulations and performing administrative tasks to prepare and file legal documents. This position requires expertise in federal and state bankruptcy statutes, as well as strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities- Document and file loan bankruptcy materials with attorneys and courts
- Ensure full compliance with bankruptcy regulations
- Prepare and file legal documents, handle bankruptcy court and attorney correspondence, and communicate with courts, trustees, attorneys, and clients
- Research legal sources using various research tools and systems
- Update reports, spreadsheets, and distribute accordingly
- Monitor on-going status of bankruptcy loans and Motions for Relief from Stay
- Serve as primary contact for all matters relating to bankruptcy
- Initiate and receive telephone calls and maintain timely communications with all parties concerned
- Associate Degree
- 3+ years of equivalent experience in bankruptcy processing, recoveries, collections, and/or legal processing
- Critical thinking, logic, and sound reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions, and approaches to problems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, management, attorneys, courts, and trustees
- Highly defined organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and ability to work independently
- Must be detailed-oriented, accurate, thorough, and timely in follow-through
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines to mitigate risk of non-compliance and possible loss
