The Mahaska County YMCA is seeking dedicated part-time individuals for the role of School Age Associate within our Before and After School Program. The ideal candidates will exemplify positive role models for children, ensuring a secure, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere. Our program is committed to delivering quality experiences for both children and their families, emphasizing the YMCA's core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
Key Responsibilities:1. Collaborate with the Site Supervisor and School Age Director to create engaging activity plans.
2. Assist in the preparation and organization of daily activities.
3. Oversee the children, classroom, and scheduled activities.
4. Engage with children in a meaningful way, facilitating structured and age-appropriate activities that prioritize their well-being.
5. Adhere to and enforce program policies and licensing regulations.
6. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:1. Candidates must be at least 17 years of age, with prior experience in childcare and a foundational understanding of child development.
2. Successful completion of a background check, along with a current TB test and physical examination, is required.
3. Acquire CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within the first month of employment.
4. Uphold and promote the YMCA mission and core values.
All School Age Associates are expected to comply with the licensing standards set forth by the Iowa Department of Human Services and the policies and procedures of the Mahaska County YMCA.
