Join our team as an HVAC Mechanic and take on the challenge of installing, servicing, and repairing environmental control systems in various settings. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, service, and repair environmental control systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
- Utilize knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout to mount compressor and condenser units.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.
- Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems and cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape.
- Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units using sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints using a torch.
- Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power sources.
- Install air and water filters in completed installations and inject small amounts of refrigerant into compressors to test systems.
- Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation, test joints and connections for gas leaks, and wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands.
- Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 5 to 7 years of journey-level HVAC experience.
- Completion of HVAC apprenticeship and FREON recovery certificate.
- Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Poly.
