About the Role

BL Companies, a 100% employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a senior-level Traffic/Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation group in Warwick, RI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed engineering analysis tasks, including traffic analysis, traffic signal sequencing, phasing, and timing, traffic data collection, technical reports, and traffic modeling and simulation.
  • Prepare engineering plans, including traffic signal design, intersection geometrics, pavement markings, and signage, as well as temporary traffic control and construction staging plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents, including plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Provide technical assistance and lead technical aspects on multiple and varied transportation and transportation-related projects.
  • Offer responsive client service and strong communication, both internally and externally.
  • Supervise and complete traffic planning and engineering analyses, alternatives analysis, and designs.
  • Prepare materials and attend project-related meetings outside of the office with clients, agencies, and the public.
  • Attend client meetings, presentations, and public hearings.
  • Maintain organized project files.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and aid in the delegation of tasks.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant traffic/transportation experience.
  • PE required, PTOE preferred.
  • Experience with traffic impact studies, corridor studies, signal design, and signing/pavement marking.
  • Experience using CADD (AutoCAD or MicroStation), Vissim, and Synchro.
  • Experience with public meetings or forums preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
