At Resources For Human Development, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker to join our team. As a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker, you will play a vital role in providing supportive services to individuals with mental health disorders and/or dual diagnosis with substance abuse/dependence or IDD.
Job Purpose:The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker will provide skills training and community integration to participants, guiding them to develop skills in the domains of living, working, socializing, and learning. This role requires a strong understanding of recovery principles and tools, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with participants, case managers, community partners, and CBH liaisons.
Responsibilities:- Work with participants to obtain skills to become independent and integrated into their community
- Uphold and practice the recovery model and psychiatric rehabilitation values and principles
- Advocate with people in recovery to assist them with obtaining successfully independent living
- Assist with the development of goal plans, skills training, and maintain regular communication with case managers, community partners, and CBH liaisons
- Support people in recovery in the community
- Work with a creative multi-disciplinary team
- Complete paperwork and office work in compliance with program regulations
- Serve as a member of RHD Allegheny Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services to provide psychiatric rehabilitation services to participants living independently in the community
- Maintain compliance with funding and licensing entities related to service delivery
- Complete documentation of quality service delivery daily
- Attend all training as required by regulations and as desired for professional development
- Attend scheduled team meetings
- Participate in supervision at least once a week
- Complete all other assigned tasks as designated by the Program Director, Assistant Director, and/or Clinical Supervisor
- Education: HS Diploma/GED and 2 years work in human services which must include 1 year of mental health experience, or Associates Degree and 1 year work experience in mental health direct service, or CPS Certificate and 1 additional year paid or volunteer work in mental health direct service, or Bachelor Degree (preferred)
- CPRP (preferred)
- Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledgeable of recovery principles and tools
- Knowledgeable of psychiatric rehabilitation regulations
- Able to communicate in a written or verbal format
- Able to document daily activities and recovery goals
- Able to role model recovery and hope
- Able to hear anecdotal information and reframe in the context of facts and data in an emphatic manner
- Demonstrate good organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as using the Internet as a resource
- Able to manage mobile technology independently
- Able to support and implement RHD and unit values and beliefs
- Able to engage employees and participants in effective, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented interactions
- Possess a thorough understanding of Psych Rehab Core Values and Principles and the requirements and expectations of Allegheny County OBH and Community Care Program Standards
RHD Allegheny Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services is a mobile program. This is a mobile position requiring traveling throughout Allegheny County during the work day to meet with participants at multiple locations and providing skills training and community integration with participants which also may include travel.
The Psychiatric Rehab Worker will need to be able to be mobile to travel to participant apartments and have physical capability to do this. Walking and the ability to carry a laptop or other mobile devices, books, binders, or other work items may be needed while traveling in the community.
Lifting Requirements: Light: exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The use of arm and/or leg control requires force greater than sedentary, but worker still sits majority of time.
Physical Requirements: Stand or Sit (stationary position), Walk, Use hands or fingers to handle or feel (operate, activate, prepare, inspect, position), Climb (stairs/ladders), Talk/Hear (communicate, converse, convey, express/exchange information), See (detect, identify, recognize, inspect, assess), Pushing or Pulling, Reaching (high or low)
Reporting Relationships: The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Workers are supervised by the Program Director, Assistant Director, and Clinical Supervisor.
