Certified Peer Specialist

The Certified Peer Specialist is a vital member of our team at the Community Counseling Center of Mercer County. This role requires a unique blend of personal experience, empathy, and professional skills to support individuals in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and maintain positive relationships with consumers, employers, and mental health professionals to provide effective support services.
- Provide one-on-one peer mentoring and support to help consumers identify and work towards their goals.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to promote hope and empowerment in the recovery process.
- Ensure the protection of participants' rights and provide education on their rights and the grievance procedure.
- Collaborate with the agency team to promote a recovery culture that maximizes self-determination and decision-making.
- Support consumers in accessing additional recovery resources and advocating for their needs.
- Develop and encourage participation in peer support groups.
- Provide services to consumers in various settings, including on-site and in the community.
- Effectively manage crisis situations and access mental health system resources.
- Assist with the conduct and facilitation of self-help groups and other agency activities.
- Provide education on medication management and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
- Participate in supervisory team meetings to discuss cases and strategies.
- Adhere to the submitted schedule or notify the supervisor of changes.
- Keep all appointments scheduled or notify consumers of delays.
- Attend relevant training workshops to advance skills.
- Effectively participate in facilitating instructional groups and maintaining knowledge of safety procedures.
- Maintain the Peer Specialist Certificate.
- Knowledge of Recovery and Wellness principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the Recovery Team.
- Good oral, written, and computer skills.
- Act 33 and 34 Clearances required.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of this position with reasonable accommodations, if necessary.
- Participation in the CCC CQI plan to ensure quality of service to CCC consumers.
