Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water/Wastewater Superintendent to join our team at the City of Waukee, IA. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable distribution of potable water and overseeing the wastewater collection system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of staff through hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of water and wastewater operations, including budgeting and accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA and DNR regulations.
  • Perform duties of direct reports, including responding to customer complaints and emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve overall City goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in water distribution and wastewater management, including three years of leadership experience.
  • Must possess IDNR Water Distribution Grade 3 and IDNR Water Treatment Grade 3 certifications.
  • Valid Class B Iowa Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements required.
Working Conditions

This position requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and may involve exposure to odors, dusts, and gases. Standard work hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend hours.
