Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Float Nurse Specialist to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with experience in emergency nursing to contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing regimens for assigned patients.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to assigned patients through assessment, making nursing diagnoses, developing, and implementing plans of care that reflect individualized modes of nursing intervention based on specific population guidelines.
  • Initiate nursing assessments, reflecting short-term goals, patient education, and discharge plans.
  • Collaborate with the Head Nurse/Assistant Director of Nursing in assigning functions to ancillary personnel.
  • Execute physician's orders with clear understanding of scientific principles of cause and effect.
  • Evaluate results of nursing interventions and make appropriate changes when necessary.
  • Administer medication as ordered and chart according to hospital policy and professional standards.
  • Count narcotics with in-coming and out-going tour nurses according to hospital policy/procedures.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment free of hazards to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Conduct risk assessments to reduce adverse events.
Requirements
  • A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State;
  • One (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the specialty area in which assigned to float;
  • Holds or obtains a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trauma Experience & Pediatric Emergency Experience Preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year ED experience.
  • Able to flex between Adult and Pediatric ED environments depending on departmental need.
Compensation and Benefits
