We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at Owensboro Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Responsibilities- Position patients and select exposure factors accurately to ensure high-quality images.
- Utilize radiation protection and safety standards, adhering to the ALARA principle to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
- Assist physicians with a variety of imaging procedures, including preparing and administering contrast media and medications as needed.
- Set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures.
- Monitor patients during procedures and document evaluation results, progress reports, and treatment plans.
- Calculate hemodynamic or physiologic values and record waveforms for patient records.
- Perform common interventions, such as stent placements, balloon angioplasties, drain placements, embolizations, and kyphoplasties, under the direct supervision of a physician.
- Operate intravascular ultrasound equipment, fluoroscopy equipment, or other imaging systems as needed.
- Insert venous and arterial catheters and wires through a needle into the vasculature to facilitate X-rays, angiograms, and other recordings.
- Perform laboratory tests and assist with obtaining biopsies and other specimens under the direct supervision of a physician.
- Associate's degree or higher in Science required upon hire.
- RT(R) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Radiology required upon hire.
- ROC - Radiation Operator Certification in the state of Kentucky required upon hire.
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment.
