Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for drawing blood from patients or donors in hospitals, clinics, blood banks, or similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble equipment, such as tourniquets, needles, and disposable containers for sharps, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work trays, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.
  • Verify the identity of patients or donors.
  • Converse with patients or donors and explain the procedure.
  • Apply tourniquets to arms, locate accessible veins, swab puncture areas with antiseptic, and insert needles into veins to draw blood into collection tubes or bags.
  • Knowledgeable in the selection of appropriate collection devices, tubes, and gauges.
  • Withdraw needles, apply treatment to puncture sites, and label and store blood containers for subsequent processing.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Phlebotomist training with subsequent certification (if applicable) as a Phlebotomist.
  • Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred.
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR (if applicable).
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training (as applicable to job site).
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
