Your Role as a Case Manager:

  • Develop, write, and oversee Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs across two middle schools.
  • Coordinate IEP meetings and ensure follow-up with all participants.
  • Conduct academic assessments and prepare necessary documentation for IEPs and ongoing progress evaluations.
  • Collaborate with specialists and school staff to monitor student progress and annual IEP goals.
  • Design and implement effective Behavior Support Plans and management strategies for instructional and interpersonal activities.
  • Identify and guide the implementation of appropriate accommodations and modifications to support student success in general education settings.
  • Ensure compliance by following up with service providers regarding IEP attendance and documentation.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with general education teachers and families of students on your caseload.
  • Provide ongoing consultation on innovative methods and strategies to enhance the educational progress of students with special needs.
  • Maintain accurate records as mandated by law and update necessary systems with relevant information.
  • Engage in regular communication with families regarding their child's academic and behavioral progress.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Onboard new special education staff, including developing comprehensive onboarding plans in collaboration with school leadership.
  • Deliver professional development sessions focused on the needs of students with disabilities and effective teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to special education.
  • Coordinate and manage testing accommodations for state assessments.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • A current Education Specialist Instruction teaching credential or equivalent.
  • Authorization to teach English Learners.
  • A strong belief in the potential of all students to succeed.
  • Experience working with students in low-income communities is preferred.
