Job Summary:
This position performs educational and interpretive services at the Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites. The successful candidate will plan, develop, and implement programs and events to promote the sites' history and increase visitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement innovative interpretive programs at the sites.
- Provide site orientation and conduct tours for visitors.
- Research and develop new interpretive outreach programs.
- Assist with organizing and scheduling tour groups.
- Monitor and review programs for policy compliance and adherence to site goals.
- Participate in volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling.
- Prepare reports and maintain records, particularly regarding site programming.
- Collaborate with local agencies, businesses, and organizations to create mutually beneficial programming.
- Develop and maintain training materials as needed.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in education, history, museum studies, or a closely related field.
- Minimum one-year work experience in cultural resource interpretation, public program development, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a state vehicle.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the work period.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, public history, or a related field.
- Certification in interpretive techniques from a nationally recognized institution.
- Experience planning and implementing museum school tour education programs.
Working Conditions:
The workplace setting is a historic site, with exposure to high temperatures, weather, dust, insects, and pollution. The position requires occasional irregular hours and travel with an overnight stay.
