Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled construction and mechanical tasks.
- Operate standard construction machinery under diverse weather conditions and varying schedules.

This position is differentiated from the Highway Maintenance Mechanic II by its leadership responsibilities and the execution of more advanced tasks, such as operating excavators and graders, alongside administrative duties.
It is also distinct from the Senior Highway Maintenance Mechanic role due to its focus on single crew leadership and specific job site activities rather than managing multiple crews.
The employee will report directly to a Senior Highway Maintenance Mechanic or another supervisory staff member. Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent, plus two (2) years of paid full-time or part-time equivalent experience in maintenance, repair, or construction that includes a combination of two (2) or more skilled trades such as masonry, carpentry, pipe installation, asphalt paving, welding, metal fabrication, pavement marking installation, and sign installation.
