Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Emergency General Surgery team at UC San Diego. The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient care, support practice, and hold independent clinics to support EGS patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive history and physical exams
  • Order diagnostic tests and follow up on lab results
  • Triage phone calls and formulate a plan of care
  • Implement treatment plans, teach, and support patients and families
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess patient care needs and treatment plans
Requirements
  • Graduate from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • California Physician Assistant (PA) license
  • Current PA Certification from NCCPA
  • BLS and ACLS certifications with a commitment to obtain ART within six months of hire
  • Minimum six months of experience as a licensed Physician Assistant in general surgery, emergency surgery, trauma, or surgical ICU
Preferred Qualifications
  • First assist experience in the OR
  • Seeing inpatient consults independently
  • Post-op surgical patients and comfortable on a team of doctors, trainees at multiple levels, and excellent communication skills with consulting services
