About the Role

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to support financial analysis for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs in our Mossville, IL office. This is a full-time, hybrid position that requires 3 days a week in office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain program financials and coordinate financial inputs across a broad stakeholder group
  • Complete detailed discounted cash flow and OPACC analysis
  • Coordinate with Corporate Business Analysis on major program requirements and reporting
  • Create effective presentations to support gateway reviews, PIAs, and ad hoc requests
  • Communicate complex financial situations to senior leadership
  • Navigate Caterpillar databases and systems
  • Provide research & engineering (R&E) budget support
  • Leverage digital tools to improve reporting and communication
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret, and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Certification (CPA or CMA)
  • MBA or Master's Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • Prior experience with Engineering and Commercial support, NPI
  • Prior experience with or willingness to learn new tools such as Axiom, Power BI, etc.
