Job Overview

CEC Motor and Utility Services is seeking a dedicated Utility Worker for our Service Center.

Work Schedule
  • Monday - Friday (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)
Compensation

Hourly rate ranges from $20 - $23.

Job Environment

The role primarily involves outdoor work, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions, public roadways, and various utilities. Employees may encounter elements such as open wet wells, lift stations, manholes, trenches, sewage, and chemicals, along with potential exposure to heavy machinery and electrical equipment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift items weighing up to 65 pounds.
  • Capability to navigate rough terrain and work in confined spaces or over water/wastewater.
  • Flexibility to perform various physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
Reporting Structure

The Utility Worker will report directly to the Utilities Manager.

Screening Requirements

This position necessitates drug testing, background checks, and motor vehicle record evaluations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Excavate and expose utility piping.
  • Access confined spaces for wastewater management tasks.
  • Perform a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and landscaping.
  • Maintain a clean and secure job site by organizing tools and equipment.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials.
  • Utilize tools in a safe and effective manner.
  • Follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Collaborate with team members and work independently.
  • Adhere to safety protocols consistently.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous labor and navigate challenging environments.
  • Knowledge of underground utility construction practices and safety regulations.
  • Ability to respond to audible danger signals.
  • Proven skills in completing tasks independently and efficiently.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery and tools safely.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record are mandatory.
