We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Childhood Education Assistant to join our team at Wayne County Schools Employment Network. As a key member of our education team, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and growth of young children in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in planning and implementing classroom activities, playground, and field trip events that promote the overall development of children.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Director and Lead Teachers to ensure a smooth and effective learning environment.
- Participate in Agency and Wayne RESA pre-service training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Implement High scope curriculum in the classroom, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging educational experience for children.
- Guide and facilitate activities of children, including daily activities, field trips, and selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom.
- Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain a safe and healthy developmentally appropriate environment.
- Write weekly observations and use home visits and parent conferences to discuss the child's individual development and progress.
- Eat with and assist children in developing social and self-help skills, and sound nutritional practices.
- Guide children's acquisition of social skills and attend staff training and meetings, and parent meetings as requested.
- Assist in recruiting and orienting volunteers, providing them with guidance as needed.
- Complete accurate time reporting and assist in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy developmentally appropriate environment.
- Perform other duties as may be required.
- The minimum requirement is a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or State equivalent credential or willingness to obtain.
- Qualifications required for an assistant teacher by MDE and GSRP.
- Knowledge and experience with the basic principles of child development.
- Ability to pass a tuberculosis (TB) test within the past 12 months; completion of a State of Michigan Child Care Background Check via IdentoGo.
- Emotional maturity, willingness to cooperate with the aims of the program, respect for children and adults, flexibility, and patience.
- CPR/First aid certificate or willing to obtain within a month.
- Successful experience working in a team setting.
- Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally an appropriate and professional manner with staff, parents, and children.
- Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, fax machine, and copier.
- Experience successfully working with a culturally diverse staff and clients.
