Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Virologist to join our team at the University of Hawai'i. As a key member of our Plant and Environment Protection Sciences department, you will be responsible for leading research and extension programs in tropical plant virology.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Responsibilities

  1. Develop a balanced research program in basic and applied aspects of tropical plant virology, including investigating host-plant resistance to viruses on key crops in Hawaii and understanding the genetics and biology of plant-virus interactions.
  2. Teach courses such as PEPS 606 (Biology of Plant Pathogens) and PEPS 714 (Advanced Plant Virology).
  3. Provide expertise to the Agricultural Diagnostic Service Center for plant virus diagnosis and control.

Requirements

  • Doctorate from a recognized college or university in Plant Pathology or a related field with experience in Plant Virology.
  • Ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Demonstrated research productivity as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
