5 North is a 26-bed unit specializing in General Surgery. We operate as a Med-Surg Unit with a significant volume of surgical cases.
Specializations Include:
- Elective bariatric weight loss surgery, known for producing highly satisfied patients who typically mobilize on post-operative Day 0.
- General surgeries such as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and small bowel obstructions.
- Foot and ankle orthopedic procedures, including total ankle replacements and management of infected foot wounds.
- Urological surgeries.
A Nurse in our unit will acquire expertise in various drainage systems, wound vacuums, central lines, nasogastric tubes, and other surgical interventions.

Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Nurse I delivers professional nursing care through thorough assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to facility or departmental policies and protocols under the guidance of nursing leadership.
This role includes maintaining a safe work environment and executing all job responsibilities safely. The nurse is expected to uphold clinical and professional competency relevant to the patient population served.Key Responsibilities

Physical Requirements
Position involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting up to 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required. Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, along with finger dexterity. Critical thinking and the ability to concentrate are essential. Must be able to respond promptly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical abilities testing is required.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. A BSN is preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is required per policy guidelines.
Must hold a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice, or if in a National License Compact (NLC) state, meet the licensure requirements of the primary state of residency.
