Position Overview:

As a Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care while fostering positive interactions with clients and healthcare facilities, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. You will ensure compliance with relevant state regulations governing physical therapy practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the licensed Physical Therapist to enhance the functional capabilities of patients by: assisting in the initial assessment and evaluation of patients; executing treatment plans for assigned individuals; providing therapy in accordance with established protocols; meticulously documenting patient progress and effectively communicating updates to patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
  • Oversee the activities of Rehabilitation Aides during both group and individual therapy sessions, ensuring that tasks are performed in a manner that optimizes resource use and promotes skill development in line with state regulations and company policies.
  • Contribute to the development of a robust rehabilitation practice within each facility by: establishing and nurturing respectful and supportive relationships with patients, families, and staff; participating in patient care discussions, utilization reviews, and family conferences as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist; maintaining collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals; staying informed about changes in patient demographics and conditions, and promptly updating the supervising Physical Therapist on patient progress and facility matters; adhering to the patient's rights and established safety protocols.
  • Enhance your clinical knowledge and professional skills through collaboration with colleagues, self-directed learning, and ongoing education; maintain a valid state license as required; engage in professional organizations; stay informed about trends and issues affecting the field of physical therapy and healthcare.
  • Understand the principles of managed care and billing guidelines to provide effective treatment while setting realistic goals and outcomes.
  • Adhere to infection control standards and safety protocols within the facility.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of patient and facility information.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Possession of a valid state license as required.
  • Valid driver's license.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to travel between facilities as needed.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by the Rehabilitation Director.
  • Mandatory attendance at all staff meetings.
  • Capability to lift patients using appropriate techniques, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Physical stamina to walk, bend, stand, and reach consistently throughout the workday.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to assess, diagnose, and document patient needs accurately.
  • Proficient fine motor skills for accurate documentation and handling of therapeutic equipment.
  • Ability to sustain activity for extended periods in accordance with labor regulations.
