Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at Christus Health. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in administering radiation therapy treatments and simulations in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the radiation oncologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies with appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Work in assigned areas following guidelines applicable to that area.
  • Maintain accurate schedules and see patients on or before their appointed times whenever possible.
  • Explain procedures to patients and assess patients and family members for special needs such as dietary, psychosocial, nursing/physician consultation, etc.
  • Prepare rooms and equipment for use and provide a safe and clean environment for radiation oncology patients.
  • Properly report variations in treatment set-up or dose delivery to the person in charge and/or oncologist.
  • Perform accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Perform weekly chart checks on opposite machines and rotate that responsibility each week with a partner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology.

Experience:

  • Preferred minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or treatment center environment but will accept students from an AMA-approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • ARRT, RT (R), Must be registered or registry-eligible and complete the requirements and become registered within the first year of employment.
  • Must possess a current Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate with the Texas Medical Board or if a new grad and in training, must have started the application before hire.
  • Maintain current licensure/registration/certification and provide the hospital with a copy of indicated requirements.
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
