Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our Neuro Clinic team at Duke Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support our medical and nursing staff in delivering exceptional patient experiences.
Responsibilities- Assist medical and nursing staff with patient care, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
- Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties, such as answering telephones, greeting patients, and updating and filing patient medical records.
- Assist with laboratory services, including collecting and preparing laboratory specimens and performing basic laboratory tests.
- Provide patient education and promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and their involvement in the plan of care.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician and authorize drug refills as directed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school or GED graduation and graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
- At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting for Level II and at least 3 years of clinical experience for Level III.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
