Job Overview

At Geisinger, we prioritize exceptional patient care and strive to create a positive experience for our patients. As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting.

Responsibilities
  • You will obtain and document pertinent information using the electronic medical record, ensuring accurate and efficient patient care.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintaining a safe and organized environment.
  • Assist patients as needed, taking measures to ensure their safety and privacy.
  • Perform various clinical duties, such as EKGs, wound dressings, and minor surgical procedures, under the direction of the provider.
  • Administer medications according to policy and procedure after demonstrating competency.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, completing associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform phlebotomy and assist with laboratory functions relative to testing, reporting, and quality assurance.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required.
  • BLS certification within 6 months is also required.
