Job Summary

The Driver Container is a critical role within our Waste Management team, responsible for safely operating a heavy-duty crane mounted truck and transporting material containers to and from customer locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a heavy-duty crane mounted truck in accordance with Waste Management's Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and document checks on a standard DVIR.
  • Immediately report any unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by Waste Management or the Route Manager.
  • Work closely with the Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify the Route Manager or Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Communicate customer requests to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets as required.
  • Conduct site evaluations to ensure locations are conducive for safe and proper servicing.
  • Position and/or return containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids and/or doors are properly replaced and do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and the check-out process.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by the Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Requirements
  • Hold a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an air brake endorsement.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and DOT physical.
  • Complete classroom training and demonstrate safe crane operation (some states may require certification).
Work Environment

This role requires working in a physical environment that involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday. The level of physical effort may vary from site to site and in some cases be greater or lesser than documented here.
