The Marine Service Technician Trainee will receive comprehensive training to effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform standard mechanical repairs as well as complete overhauls on marine engines and propulsion systems.

Upon successful completion of the training program, participants will gain a solid understanding of electrical systems, marine engine fundamentals, and propulsion systems, ultimately achieving accreditation under the Department of Labor Apprenticeship program.

Key Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in diesel mechanics or a related field, or a minimum of two years of relevant mechanical experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory; military equipment experience is advantageous.

Essential Skills:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent driving record is required.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer usage, including Microsoft Office and service software, is essential for completing service reports and work orders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to accurately document diagnoses and repairs.
  • Able to interpret and understand operating manuals.
  • Organized and self-directed, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining exceptional customer service.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and overtime as required to meet operational needs.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive customer experience.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be capable of performing physical tasks, including standing, walking, using hands for manipulation, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 70 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to see close and distant objects and adjust focus as necessary.
