Job Overview:

This position provides essential support and assistance to patients and healthcare teams in the CVICU department. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, the Acute Care Technician II performs basic patient care tasks, maintains a safe environment, and communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs and documents basic patient care tasks, such as vital sign measurements and medication administration, under the direct supervision of an RN.
  • Maintains competency in tasks and procedures, seeking clarification when needed.
  • Completes assigned tasks within required timeframes and seeks assistance when necessary.
  • Reports safety hazards and completes safety event reports as required.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, demonstrating respect and compassion.
  • Assists with supply, equipment, and environmental-related activities, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records, adhering to unit and TriHealth guidelines.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of high school education or equivalent.
  • Age 17 with work permit.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification.
  • Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.
  • Multi-line phone skills and familiarity with patient call systems and pagers.
  • Previous experience with computer operation.
Working Conditions:

This role requires frequent bending, standing, and walking, as well as occasional climbing and kneeling. The ability to lift < 10 lbs, 10-50 lbs, and 50+ lbs is required, as well as the ability to push, pull, and reach. Color vision and visual acuity are also essential for this position.
