Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting and processing laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens from patients of all ages, including infants, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Use manual requisitions and labels to accurately identify and process specimens.
  • Operate and maintain equipment related to phlebotomy and laboratory procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet productivity and quality standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to reduce errors and improve patient care.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of specimens.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including specimen collection and processing data.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types, experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge, familiarity with medical EMR systems, knowledge of medical terminology, and bilingual skills.
Work Environment

This is a full-time, 37 hours per week, phlebotomy position located at a client site in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be able to work Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pm, and be able to travel to additional sites as needed.
