Essential Job Functions: 1. Instruct, supervise, and assess students in clinical environments (hospitals, community settings, skill labs, or simulation labs).

  • Determine suitable clinical placements aligned with course objectives.
  • Support students in achieving course goals by providing relevant learning experiences.
  • Assess student performance in relation to clinical objectives.
  • Maintain communication with course lead faculty and the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Participate in all mandatory NSU and clinical facility training and orientation sessions.
  • Complete lab referrals as necessary for individual students.
  • Document anecdotal records as required for individual students.
  • Foster professional relationships with clinical facilities.

Marginal Job Functions: Shift patterns may vary based on teaching assignment requirements. Weekend and evening teaching may be necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Recent clinical experience and familiarity with assigned clinical rotations.

  • Basic understanding of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to evaluate and assess student performance.
  • Effective communication skills with all stakeholders.
  • Proficient written communication skills.
  • Ability to create a conducive learning environment.
  • Exemplify professional behaviors.

Job Requirements:

Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Active, unencumbered Florida RN or APRN license

  • Current immunizations (as mandated by clinical facilities)
  • Basic Life Support and/or other relevant certifications related to teaching assignment.

Required Education: Master's Degree

Major (if required):

Required Experience: Minimum of two years recent clinical experience in the area of teaching assignment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in clinical and classroom instruction within an undergraduate nursing program is preferred. A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
