Adjunct Faculty Position in Mechanical and Materials Engineering

We are seeking highly qualified adjunct instructors to teach a variety of courses in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Denver. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to teach courses in topics including but not limited to Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and/or Materials Science.
Essential Functions- Teach in-person once or twice a week, depending on the course.
- Design and develop new or adapt existing courses, including learning outcomes, support materials, and course calendars.
- Create and maintain course materials, including LSM/Course Canvas Container.
- Assign and grade papers, exams, and other deliverables in a timely manner.
- Attend quarterly school meetings and monthly faculty meetings, as requested.
- Participate in recruiting and informational events, as needed.
- Work with students and colleagues to ensure a positive student experience.
- Focus on providing clear value and concise directions for students.
- Meet with students, as requested, to discuss grades, assignments, and project status.
- Support enrollment activities, as needed.
The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering follows a quarterly schedule, with courses taught in the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The exact dates for each quarter are as follows:
- Fall Quarter: September to November/December (approximately)
- Winter Quarter: January to March (approximately)
- Spring Quarter: March to June (approximately)
- Masters degree.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Successful teaching/facilitation experience with adults at the graduate level.
- Ph.D.
- Successful teaching/facilitation experience with adults in graduate business programs.

Adjunct faculty are compensated at a rate of $5,000 per course for standard courses in the MME department for Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. Pay for Summer courses is based on enrollment. If you are selected to teach for Summer, you will be informed of the Summer Pay Scale at that time.
