Schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Hospitalist Bed Capacity: 39

Atrium Health operates a closed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a dedicated night team.

The physician will oversee all admitted medical-surgical hospitalist patients during the night shift, which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  1. Managing and responding to any Rapid Responses or Codes, with support from the ICU team and Emergency Department physician during critical situations.
  2. Evaluating patients and formulating suitable plans for any urgent incidents or alterations in patient condition.
  3. Collaborating with nursing personnel and addressing inquiries or concerns as they arise.
  4. Delivering comprehensive hand-off/sign-out to the daytime team at the end of the shift.
  5. Identifying patients who necessitate transfer to a tertiary care facility and coordinating with the appropriate channels.
  6. While procedures are generally not required, the capability to perform them is advantageous, with access to other specialties for procedural support.
