Job Summary

The Head Usher position is a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of events at the Musco Center. As a non-exempt, part-time staff member, you will report to the Front of House Manager and/or Director of Patron Services and be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patrons, visiting artists, and supporting staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet patrons with a prompt and courteous attitude, and provide assistance as needed to ensure a positive experience.
  • Event Management: Supervise ushers for the duration of the performance, and communicate with Musco staff to ensure the event starts on time.
  • Security and Safety: Assist with crowd control, accidents, emergencies, and other unusual situations that may arise during events.
  • Pre- and Post-Event Tasks: Conduct pre- and post-event checks of lobby areas and restrooms, and secure reception perimeters as needed.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with Musco staff and ushers to ensure a seamless event experience.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and active listening skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals within and outside of the university.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Two or more years of professional work experience providing customer service in a public environment.
