Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Cybersecurity Systems Architect to join our team at Input Technology Solutions. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will play a critical role in supporting our DOE customer in Germantown, MD.

About the Role:

The primary responsibilities of this position involve utilizing and configuring existing cybersecurity tools to monitor, analyze, correlate, and report on cybersecurity issues and incidents. Additionally, you will provide guidance and recommendations for new tools based on changes in threats, architecture, technological advancements, or organizational mission.

This security engineer reports directly to leadership and must have strong verbal and written communication skills for presentations related to activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Cybersecurity Policy Implementation: Ensure the implementation of DOE and NNSA cybersecurity policies and procedures for designated information systems.
  • System Assessments and Authorizations: Conduct Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities for designated systems.
  • Security Plan Development: Document the implementation of protection measures within the security plan for the systems.
  • Access Management: Ensure the appropriate access is provisioned for users of designated systems.
  • Threat Identification and Risk Assessment: Identify, assess, and document threats and risks to designated systems.
  • Cybersecurity Artifacts Management: Capture and maintain information system security artifacts.
  • Cybersecurity Testing and Assessment: Conduct cybersecurity tests and assessments and provide results of these activities to the ISSM.
  • Security Impact Evaluation: Evaluate the security impact and recommend implementation strategies for security significant changes to the assigned information systems.
  • Cybersecurity Training Needs Identification: Identify cyber security training needs in terms of job responsibilities or roles.
  • Information System Risk Assessments: Conduct information system risk assessments.
  • Incident Response: Respond to and report incidents related to their assigned information systems.
  • Cybersecurity Process Development: Develop security processes and procedures to support the ISSM's Cyber Security Program.
  • Disaster Recovery and Incident Response Planning: Create and maintain disaster recovery and incident response plans and participate in associated training.
  • Communication and Presentation: Formally and informally present information in group and individual settings.
Requirements:
  • US Citizenship: US Citizenship is required.
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university emphasizing information systems management and/or security arena. Four years of technical work experience may be substituted for education requirements. One year of higher education can be substituted for one year of technical experience.
  • Prior Experience with Web Application Scanning: Prior experience with web application scanning is required.
  • Related Work Experience: Five (5) years of related work experience with a preference in experience applying techniques used by cyber security personnel.
  • System Administration Experience: Strong system administration experience with Windows and Linux.
  • Security Risk Identification: Demonstrated capability to identify security risks throughout information system network structures to include the Operating Systems, hardware, and various data transfer protocols.
  • Cybersecurity Tools Experience: Experience with Security Incident and Event Management tools, Log Management and Correlation tools, and Antivirus/anti-malware tools.
  • Effective Communication and Presentation Skills: Effective communication and presentation skills (i.e., ability to present ideas effectively in formal and informal situations in group and individual settings).
  • Strong Planning, Organizational, and Time Management Skills: Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills (i.e., ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work, and to control and follow up to assure work completion).
  • Initiative and Ability to Work Independently: Demonstrated initiative (i.e. initiate appropriate action without being directed) and ability to work independently.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., ability to work effectively on teams, communicate effectively, work/interact effectively and amicably with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and with diverse personal attributes).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Forensics Experience: Experience with forensics is a plus.
  • Implementing, Monitoring, and Maintaining Technologies: Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the following technologies is preferred: Windows Server Operating Systems, Tenable Security Center, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SourceFire IPS, Splunk, BurpSuite, HP WebInspect, McAfee ePO.
Security Clearance Level:
  • TS or DOE Q: TS or DOE Q clearance level is required.
Certifications:
  • NICE Framework Certification: Must be able to maintain the appropriate NICE framework certification level by obtaining/holding at least one certification within 6 months of hire (e.g. CCISO, CISSP, CISM).

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
