Position Summary: AIMS LOCUM TENENS LLC is in search of proficient Pharmacy Technicians to deliver exceptional pharmacy services. The ideal candidates will undertake a range of responsibilities in inpatient, outpatient, and oncology pharmacy environments, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patient responses to medication therapy and devise treatment plans based on physician-established diagnoses.
- Receive and assess prescriptions, including controlled substances, adhering to the pharmacy formulary.
- Monitor patient reactions to prescribed and over-the-counter medications in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with prescribers to resolve any concerns regarding dosages, interactions, or instructions.
- Prepare and manage inventory orders, receive shipments, verify accuracy, and ensure proper rotation of medications and supplies.
- Input medication orders into an electronic health record system, checking for allergies, interactions, and duplicate entries.
- Conduct standard assays on finished pharmaceutical products, confirming ingredient accuracy, labeling, and ensuring quality dispensing.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including PYXIS systems and point-of-use medication cabinets.
Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Duties:
- Input prescriptions into the outpatient system, ensuring checks for allergies, interactions, and duplicates.
- Prepare labeling for packages, inspect medications, verify accuracy, and set aside prescriptions for pharmacist review.
- Provide patients with guidance on proper medication usage, directing inquiries to a pharmacist as necessary.
- Assist in inspections of medication storage areas and uphold the security of pharmaceuticals.
- Support the ordering and assessment of laboratory tests to evaluate the effects of drug therapies.
Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Duties:
- Prepare sterile products and perform pharmaceutical calculations for various formulations.
- Strictly adhere to sterile protocols and maintain equipment integrity.
- Prepare and dispense physician orders for IV solutions, parenteral medications, and inpatient unit dose prescriptions.
- Conduct maintenance on equipment to ensure the sterility of IV products.
- Engage in quality assurance data collection and review processes.
Oncology Pharmacy Technician Duties:
- Execute responsibilities specific to an oncology pharmacy setting, including compounding and dispensing medications for chemotherapy patients.
- Safely handle, prepare, store, and dispose of cytotoxic and potentially hazardous medications.
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years as an inpatient, outpatient, or oncology pharmacy technician.
- Graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician program recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a comparable program, including military training.
- Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), or CHPhT.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Compliance with relevant state regulations governing the profession.
Special Qualifications:
- Fully trained and qualified to deliver high-quality pharmacy services.
- Demonstrated stability and continuity in the workforce to ensure consistent task performance.
- Commitment to adhering to professional practice standards and TJC guidelines.
