Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients within the specialty area of Obstetrics and Gynecology. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care coordination and patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care on an inpatient and/or outpatient service, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients within the specialty area of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Establish priorities for nursing care through patient assessment and develop nursing care plans.
  • Prepare equipment and assist providers during examination, testing, and treatment of patients as needed.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary healthcare services and arrange diagnostic tests as ordered by physicians.
  • Perform inpatient diagnostic testing, therapeutic, and interventional procedures in conjunction with physicians as needed.
  • Triage patient inquiries and communicate test results.
  • Administer appropriate injections and medications as ordered by medical providers in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.
  • Educate patients and staff on pharmacological/drug effects and protocol requirements.
  • Record medical information within patients' electronic medical records as appropriate.
  • May be required to reach out to referring physicians and promote new referrals.
  • May be responsible for the precertification and preauthorization of prescriptions.
  • Participate in safety programs and orientation of new staff.
  • Assist in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Ensure infection control compliance within the practice and quality assurance in all aspects of patient care.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and/or reagents, and order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized.
  • Assist with cost control.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and/or conferences to stay up-to-date on standards and best practices within the field.
  • Disseminate information to colleagues and/or staff as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Master's of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Approximately 2 or more years of clinical experience as an NP in a physician practice or hospital setting, preferably within a related specialty.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • A team-oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goals.
  • NYS Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and current NP registration.
  • NYS Registered Professional Nurse license and current RN registration.
  • Applicable National Board Certification (such as ANCC, PNCB, etc).
  • Current BLS (must be issued by American Heart Association).
  • Infection Control Certificate.
  • Current Narcotics DEA registration certificate.
